The Project
After 45 years, Rio Grande’s campus stands as a testament to the care, vision, and generosity of those who came before us. Some of our spaces — including the Early Childhood building and the Art/Science portable — have reached the end of their lifespan. Beyond Boundaries gives us the opportunity to reimagine what’s possible and build learning environments where children can thrive today and far into the future.
Our campus redesign is guided by the same principles that shape our program every day: academic challenge, interdisciplinary learning, and environmental stewardship. The master plan emphasizes spaces that are welcoming, practical, and deeply connected to the way Rio Grande students learn.
What this redesign will create:
Improved Campus Flow – Clear, connected pathways that support safety, intuitive movement, and a strong sense of community.
Nature-Based Play & Exploration – Outdoor zones that invite creativity, physical activity, and open-ended discovery.
Upgraded Classroom Spaces – Adaptable learning environments that support collaboration, innovation, and varied teaching approaches.
A Unified Campus Layout – A cohesive design that strengthens connections between disciplines and grade levels.
Sustainability & Stewardship – Eco-conscious buildings and landscapes that model environmental responsibility and support student learning in the outdoors.
